Gaining Knowledge
The bible is clear about many things:
~God is a jealous God, and we are not to have any idols
~Jesus died on the cross and he rose again
~The bible makes it clear that there’s a heaven and hell
~There’s a day of judgement to come
~One of the things the bible tells us to do is to acquire knowledge
Proverbs 18:15 A wise heart shall acquire knowledge: and the ear of the wise seeketh instruction.
Think about that…those who are intelligent, those who are prudent and discerning, they seek to acquire knowledge.
Why is knowledge so important?
Hosea 4:6 “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”
Listen: we need knowledge concerning the authority we have in Jesus, because when we lack this knowledge, there’s no way that we can walk in dominion, and there’s no way we can walk in victory, because we will have no knowledge of who you are in Christ.
We need knowledge and wisdom because the lack of knowledge can result in us being deceived.
The Bible tells us that even the devil transforms himself into an angel of light. People with a lack of knowledge will see signs and wonders and think it’s a move of God not knowing that the bible says in 2 Thessalonians 2:9: “The coming of the [Antichrist, the lawless] one is through the activity of Satan, [attended] with great power [all kinds of counterfeit miracles] and [deceptive] signs and false wonders [all of them lies]”
When we have a lack of knowledge, we’ll believe anything and everything, we’ll follow any doctrine, accept any teaching and be drawn by any miraculous sign. And so, to guard ourselves against this, the bible says in Proverbs 1:7 “Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”
James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
So, to gain knowledge we have to invest time and effort in seeking the Lord, we have to seek Him in prayer, we have to seek Him in His word.
Once we commit ourselves to seeking the Lord and seeking His presence, God will show up.
Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
I encourage us to equip ourselves with the knowledge that is in the word of God, I encourage us to sincerely ask the Lord for wisdom, understanding and for knowledge.
The word of God warns us that people perish because of the lack of knowledge. Don’t let that be you!
