GIVE THANKS

As the aroma of the Thanksgiving meal travel through our homes, it’s easy to gather around the table, clasping hands and bowing our heads in gratitude for the bountiful meal before us. But what if I told you that giving thanks and showing gratitude is not confined to a single day of the year, nor should it be reserved solely for moments when loved ones surround the Thanksgiving dinner table?

The essence of Thanksgiving or giving thanks transcends the dates of holidays and knows no season; it’s a timeless practice that can enrich our lives and the lives of those around us every single day. When we give praise and thanksgiving, we deepen our joy. As you count your blessings, you can recall God’s goodness.  Let us cultivate a year-round attitude of gratitude and experience the blessings of giving thanks to God daily.

Expressing gratitude can provide powerful daily transformation!

Psalm 103:1-6 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, Who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  This verse reminds us to be thankful in all circumstances, emphasizing the importance of gratitude as a central aspect of our faith. We can incorporate this verse into our daily Thanksgiving prayer, expressing our thanks for God’s presence and blessings in our life.

As we gather on Thanksgiving Day, we remember the words of our Father that call us to give thanks in all circumstances. And to thank the Lord for the countless blessings He has bestowed upon us, both in times of joy and in times of challenge.

Let’s be grateful for the love of family and friends who surround us, for the food on our table, and for the shelter over our heads. Most of all, be thankful for His presence in our lives, for His grace, and for the gift of Salvation through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Let us pray: Help us, dear Lord, to always maintain hearts filled with gratitude, every day of our lives. May we continue to count it all joy and to give thanks in all things. In Jesus’; name, we offer this prayer of thanksgiving. Amen
