GOD ANSWERS

One of our biggest resources as Christians is prayer. Prayer for us as believers is power. It’s our lifeline and it’s a powerful tool. It allows us to knock on heaven’s door and get God’s attention.

And throughout the Bible we see so many men and women who tapped into the power of prayer.

Although their situations and circumstances may have been different, the one thing they had in common…. was prayer. They all prayed.

1 Chronicles 4:10 and Jabez called on the god of Israel saying oh that you would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory that your hand would be with me and that you would keep me from evil that I may not cause pain.

So, God granted him what he requested. The bible when speaking of Hannah, in 1 Samuel 1:10 and she was in bitterness of soul and prayed unto the Lord and wept sore.

When Hezekiah fell ill, the bible says in 2 Kings 20:2-3 then he turned his face toward the wall and prayed to the Lord saying remember now O Lord I pray how I have walked before you in truth and with a loyal heart and have done what was good in your sight and Hezekiah wept bitterly.

And because of his prayer, the Lord answered him in verse 5; it says return and tell Hezekiah the leader of my people thus says the Lord the god of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears surely, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.

The bible also tells us in Jonah 2:1 then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly.

And in a story, we’re very familiar with, Paul and Silas were imprisoned, and the bible says in Acts 16:25 and at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God and the prisoners heard them. So, do you see a pattern in all these verses?

-Hezekiah on his deathbed prayed

-Jonah in trouble in the belly of a fish prayed

-Hannah hurting and in deep anguish prayed

-Jabez when seeking a blessing prayed

-Paul and Silas bound and in prison prayed

Prayer is a necessity for us, the bible gives us all these different kinds of examples of men and women who sought after the Lord in prayer so that we can learn and be encouraged that we too need pray. No matter where you are, God can hear you if you pray.

If you’re underwater, God can hear you. If you’re at the end of your life God can still hear you. If you’re in prison, in anguish or distress God can hear you.

It doesn’t matter what your situation or circumstance is God can hear you. So, I encourage you to pray because prayer still works. There is power in prayer.

Not only does God hear our prayers, but the Lord also answers prayers. If you call unto the Lord, his word says I will show you great and mighty things that you know not of.

So, we must cry out in faith because our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is faithful and He’s merciful.
