God Is Doing Something New

16 This is what the Lord says, he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, 17 who brings out the
chariots and horses, the army and warrior; and they lay there, never to rise again, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick:
18 Forget the former things or consider the things of old (don’t dwell on the past). 19 See, I am about to do a new thing! Now it
springs forth(up), do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert (streams in the wasteland). 20 The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls; because I provide water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert (streams in the wasteland), to give drink to my chosen people, 21 the people whom I formed for myself so that they might declare (proclaim) my praise. Isaiah 43:16-21

God has power and ability to make a way even in difficult circumstances. As we know this world is full of problems…even our personal worlds…right?? The problems in our world and lives can feel overwhelming for many people, you may find yourself wondering/thinking asking ourselves… “Will things ever be fixed”? “Will things ever get better”?

In Isaiah 43, God speaks to his people as they struggle with feeling that way. They are in exile, and their country is in ruins. In despair, they’re thinking it will never be fixed. But God declares, “See, I am doing a new thing! . . . Do you not perceive it?” We are reminded that God is at work doing something new, and he invites us to join him.

God’s plans show us that things will not just be restored—they will be even better than before! Do we have the eyes to see?

Lord of all, thank you for the new things you are doing in our lives/world. Please give us eyes to see what you are doing today and help us to notice all that you are making new in our lives! In Jesus, Amen.
