God, the Advocate

Psalm 145:14 “The Lord picks up all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down”
So, he upholds us and builds us up when we feel unworthy.

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 1 John 2:1

An advocate is a person who publicly supports another person—at times standing beside them when things get tough.
Advocates come in many different forms: from lawyers and legal counselors to teachers and coaches to parents and friends.
Regardless of the relationship, an advocate stands by a person to show support and solidarity.

An advocate is a person who comes to our aid or pleads our case to a judge.

Advocates offer support, strength, and counsel and intercede for us when necessary.

The Bible says that Jesus is an Advocate for those who’ve put their trust in Him:

As our advocate, He faithfully supports us, especially when we need it most. God’s character is not dependent on our ability, because in him our status as people who have been called and adopted by the King is already fully established.

Merciful Lord, we continue to humble ourselves before your goodness and kindness and we thank you for advocating for us, for lifting us up when we fall, and for holding us up when we feel weak. We know that in our weakness your strength is perfect. Amen
